Becoming an Architect

My second year of architecture school will be concluding with the end of this semester and all I can say is "Wow."

I've a strong inclination towards and fascination with architecture which originated during my early high school years. Something about this profession seemed to grasp on to me and pull me in. It has definitely been an uphill battle to reach the point I'm at now, but now that I'm almost past the preliminary architectural education I can really feel that this is the correct path for me.

Our studio is currently working on a museum design project and for the first time in my years at college I felt like I had made progress, both mentally and developmentally. My architectural vocabulary has increased ten fold since I first entered the college and my understanding of architectural concepts, once previously lost to me, are now becoming much more clear. Some unforeseen benefits have also been reaped; I'm able to speak much more confidently in front of people, and when I do speak I am able to articulate my thoughts much more easily than before.

The creativity... OOOHHH the creativity. I haven't posted any photographs for almost 2 years now, and aside from the occasional vacation photo-ops I can't see myself continuing in that direction. Architecture has provided such an amazing outlet for my creative energies I can't even begin to imagine doing anything else. Every project is different. Every building unique. Every site unique. Conditions vary. It is this unpredictability that I feel will keep me captivated and enamored until the day I leave this world.

Awww you're in SA now? No wonder I haven't seen you around! Glad to hear you finally got to doing architecture stuff :) A&M is kinda kicking my ass at the moment, but in a good way. I'm on the viz track, which is finally what I want to be doing.
Hopefully next time I'm down in San Antonio I'll give you a ring :)

I love your photographs, they have that feeling that I can relate with them. I especially like how you pay attention to the use of line, and distance, keep up the good work.
